Paul Gemmink

Paul our President has been involved in swimming his entire life.  He has been swimming competitively about as long as he can remember.  His swim coach got him involved as an assistant coach and swim instructor when he was in his teens.  He kept up coaching and instructing until he was part way through university.  He started with the Pickering Master Splashers when he was in his twenties, although he did take a break for a while as his kids were growing up.  He began officiating at his kids’ swim meets when they swam competitively in Pickering, mainly as starter and referee.

Paul has been active in helping run the Pickering Master Splashers for quite a few years.  He still enjoys going to swim meets on a regular basis.  That being said, his son Nicholas, who is a competitive swimmer as well, keeps reminding him that he is quite a bit slower than he says he used to be.
